Doctor of choice
A doctor of choice is every doctor who doesn't have a contract with your health insurance. If you pay the fee for a private consultation, you have the possibility to get a part of the fee reimburesed by your insurance. Nevertheless be aware that the insurance will not pay the whole fee. With the most insurances the amount they reimburce is about 80 percent of the amount the insurance would pay to a contracted physician.
The amount the health insurance pays to a contracted physician depends on the service provided and therefore hasn't to be always the same.
According to this the amount as well depends on the respective health insurance, as every insurance company has its own collective agreements, which can also vary from state to state.
Example: If the fee for example is € 80,00 and the insurance would pay € 30,00 to the contracted physician, then you would get 80% from € 30,00 reimbursed from the insurance company, which means € 24,00. It can happen that the insurance company deducts the health insurance treatment voucher fee of € 3,63 as well, so you would get € 20,37. (The given rates are only exemplary and can vary in any direction.
